After my week at Asilomar where I got to quilt with my favorite group of ladies, John and the boys flew to Monterey. We decided to ditch school on Friday and Monday and spend it driving up and around the Carmel, Monterey, Big Sur area. We started our day at Dennis the Menace park in Monterey. Then we checked in to our favorite hotel the Monterey Bay Plaza. We had a great view from our room. Our regular room was unavailable so we got a bay view room. What a view!
We went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium and spent a wonderful afternoon watching the jelly fish and playing in the touch pools. We had dinner at Grasings in Carmel and then went home to bed. On Saturday we got up and we went over to Carmel and let the boys play on dog beach. The wind was so cold but they didn't care.
We then took a trip down to the Carmel Mission and walked through their gardens and looked at the buildings. A wedding was going on so we could not go into the church.
We went back to our hotel to rest and then I went and picked up my friend and quilt teacher Mary Lou W. and brought her back to our hotel for dinner. She got to meet the guys and we talked and drank. At one point there were 3 different glass in front of us. I took a picture of her that she said is what she' d look like if she drank all 3 of them.
Nick and I took her back to her hotel at Asilomar and then went back to the hotel for cocktails with Jake and John. On Sunday morning we drove down to Big Sur.
We came back and stopped at the grocery store and picked up treats and then went down to the Carmel River Beach and the boys played for an hour or so. We had dinner at one of our favorite restaurants the riogrill. Yummy artichokes. Monday we got up and went over to Pacific Grove so that the boys could climb on the whale in front of the Natural History Museum.
Then we had to go home. So sad.
