Nick is 8
On Dec. 18 through the 20th we took Nick to Las Vegas to celebrate his 8th birthday. He got to go to Circus Circus for the first time and play lots of games on the Midway. We also went to the amusement park there and spent half the day riding rides. Jake finally got brave and rode the triple loop roller coaster and then decided it really was a fun place. The highlight of the trip was seeing Monty Pythons Spamalot at the Wynn. We took the backstage tour at the end of the show and got to see the inner workings of a broadway style show. The boys got to try on costumes and lift props. We saw where all the hair, makeup and costumes are taken care of. The sound, lights and computer rooms were interesting. Nick really loved being attacked by the man eating rabbit. Mom stayed at the Venetian and gambled until we got back and then we had Nick's birthday dinner at midnight at the Lux Cafe in the Venetian. Nick got to open his gifts before we went to bed and was very excited to receive a touch ipod and a nintendo ds. After the drive back to Santa Monica, he convinced grandma to make chicken and dumplings for his real birthday dinner and wanted a pumpkin pie as his birthday cake.
